Location
Burnt Peak and its neighbors lie on the northwest edge of the San Gabriel Mountains range, where the San Andreas Fault marks the transition from forest to desert. Originally called Sawmill Mountain, it was renamed following a major fire and the name Sawmill transferred to another nearby peak. Burnt Peak is usually hiked in conjunction with nearby Sawtooth and Liebre Mountain. It is an easy walk on road to the summit, marked by communications towers.
