4F Cerro Noroeste

Location: Kern County, California

Means "Northwest Hill" in Spanish. Noted in disinos for Rancho Conejo. Alternatively named Mount Abel, not as is often assumed for a communications station (Point Able) built in WWII, but after a local pioneer ranching family of the 1880's.

USBGN has officially accepted Spanish name (1989).

Peak was on the original 1946 HPS Peak List. Weldon Heald climbed this peak in 1941.
