The peak is named only on the USFS San Bernardino National Forest Map. On the Telegraph Peak 7½ topo, the peak is in the southeast quadrant of the Section 27, marked 6955′ and should not be confused with peak 6966′ found 0.5 mile to the northwest.
The summit plateau contains a toothpick forest. This is a stand of dead trees that can remain standing for decades.

Driving route
Take I-10 east and then I-15 north to the SR 138 off-ramp. Turn left (west).
Go 1.2 miles to the intersection with Lone Pine Canyon Road on the left. Turn left.
Go 5.4 miles to a dirt road (3N31) on the left just past the gated Clyde Ranch entrance. Turn left.
Go 3 miles up 3N31 to a junction at the ridgeline. Turn right.
Go 0.6 mile further to a parking area at the end of the road. This location serves as a trailhead for the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Park here.
Hiking route
From the parking area (6460′), go west up the slope to the flat area on the top of the ridge. The register should be at the northwest end of this flat area.
Alternative: This peak can be combined with Wright Mountain by car shuttle. Park at the Wright Mountain parking area. After climbing Wright Mountain follow the PCT eastward, then southeast, to a saddle at 6600′, 1/4 mile northwest of Gobblers Knob. Climb 350′ up an open ridge to the summit of Gobblers Knob. Descend to the cars by Route 1.
One can also hike from Gobblers Knob to Wright Mountain and return by the PCT.
