Ranger Peak, Indian Mountain, Lookout Mountain #1

20 November 1993

By: Luella Fickle

Erich & Luella Fickle

Nine were at the Pomona Carpool by 6:30 AM. Snow the previous week turned Black Mtn into an M rated hike so we substituted Ranger and Lookout.

It was a beautiful day. We had good views across San Gorgonio Pass of the San Gorgonio Wilderness from Ranger and of an icy Black #1 and the San Jacinto Wilderness. We then carpooled to the vista point 1/2 mile beyond Lake Fulmor for our hike of Indian. More good views. We were back to the cars early afternoon so drove to the PCT parking lot south of the Hwy 74/371 junction for a climb of Lookout. Since my last lead of Lookout, a fuel break has been cut from the pass north of Lookout to the PCT. We followed the PCT to the pass and the fuel break to the summit.

The participants were Jennifer Lambert, Janet and Erv Bartel, Name Revaw, Bob Evans (his 2nd, 3rd, & 4th peaks - he came back after the Monument fiasco last week), Alan Wright (back with HPS after about ten years), and Dorothy Danziger (also survivor of Monument).
