Seven men and one woman toiled up long, steep trails to Snowy, June 2. Six made it. Beautiful pines, clear mountain streams, wildflowers, and some interesting experiences helped the day along. These experiences included being "attacked" by countless swarms of ladybird beetles (we had to keep our mouths shut to avoid swallowing them); the leader's sole being repaired with antiquated equipment by a miner; the cooling of tired feet in a pleasant stream; and the shooing of cows off the trail.
We finally reached the cars at 7:45 p.m. Incidentally, one stalwart hiker evidently didn't have enough -- he climbed Black, solo.
