For this joint trip with the Camera Section, about 35 people met at Pinyon Flats
Campground and caravanned to the starting point near Asbestos Springs and the
old Asbestos mine. About three cars were lost enroute due to the dusty road, but
after a chase were rounded up.
It took a little over two hours for the group to reach the summit. Two peak
baggers with a much later start arrived at the summit as the group was having
lunch. With peaks on their minds, all were in a hurry to go elsewhere so no time
for picture taking. Most folks were back at the cars by 2:00 p.m. A bit of
anxiety arose as one very slow hiker required about an hour extra, but finally
all were accounted for.
