Thirteen hikers helped Joe celebrate his 51st birthday by participating in this easy hike to Hillyer. The weather was cool with occasional stiff breezes. Skies were clear, in contrast to the generally foggy weather in the LA basin. Many used the occasion to pick mistletoe, abundant along the trail and on the summit, for Christmas decorations. The group partied a short while in a relatively protected area near the summit rocks. The short outing permitted an early return in order to get in some holiday errands.
